Displeasure in Paris

Why aren’t writers concerned with the current crises in and around Paris at least making a passing note about *La Haine*? *Hate*, the celebrated ‘95 Cannes winner, is an excellent introductory film for those interested in some of the bases for the violence. And…it doesn’t simply repeat what’s already been documented or take any easy roads. It’s a relevant, beautiful work of art which invites one and all to make necessary connections. And *do* something.

It’s palatable for the general public, and the inner pulse of Paris is palpable throughout. Ditto respecting parallels elsewhere. Perhaps readers should review the thought-provoking interview with Jodie Foster and the film’s director Mathieu Kassovitz (http://old.thing.net/ttreview/febrev.04.html) if they can’t catch the flick from the local video store. Ideally, the ‘96 dialogue should be tasted *following* a viewing.

In my most recent article, “Not Stopping Global Warming: Earth to America!” (recently revised), I stated that all hope had evaporated with regard to environmental concerns. *Concerns* is a relatively mild word, having basically the same relationship to *painful anxiety* as *displeasure* has to *hatred*.

I was quite serious in saying that the scorecard’s in regarding our so-called environmental movement, that…it’s too late. Readers did not take me so literally.

Nevertheless, just like the French film underscores how much more important the form of one’s *landing* is over and above one’s destiny, I submit that it’s worthwhile to consider addressing the depths of hatred to which we contribute.

Now, not *before* it’s too late, but even though it’s too late.

The last two words are *not* in italics…for a reason. For much the same reason that my articles are shorter these days.

Special note: Author Oxman, dueleft@yahoo.com, wants readers to know that French “pioneers of unrest” have included Supreme NTM. Their song “What are we waiting for” (”Qu’est-ce qu’on attend”), from the 1995 album “Paris bombed” (”Paris sous les bombes”), seems, in light of recent riots, like an early warning sign that was dismissed. On top of that, it should be underscored that the mainstream *and alternative news outlets* (for the most part) do not share (or know?) reasons why matters will get much worse before they get better in and around Paris regardless of what actions the French government takes. Deep History is being ignored. The author is willing to discuss those fine points…once the reader views *La Haine* or….
