: This is truly an unedited/rushed first draft… meant for “Roger Waters’ saxophonist”; name withheld to protect the wicked (the playfully mischievous who don’t intend to upset sweet people seriously)… with a shout out to Gilad Atzmon. The writing style here might be off-putting; I pray not, but if so please try to get past that. For the bottom line for RW is that what’s being done for the Palestinians is not sufficient, and I do have a “supplement” that will make a difference. Not documentation in lieu of doing… something fresh, sooner rather than… too late. Beginning today… and not at the pace of an arthritic snail. All hail!
“Your father would have been proud of you.”
“You must change your life.” — Rilke
“We are all capable of change for the better” — Roger Waters
I’ll bring tears to the eyes of Roger Waters too. As well, as they say in the UK.
Watching https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150371909705737&set=vb.10105204 9938609&type=3&theater — only from 1:24 TO 1:55 should suffice — I believe you’ll catch my drift.
There IS a riff which Roger has never heard play with all his experience in the musical realm. A musical riff at that. One which taps into visceral appeal for application in the electoral arena along lines unprecedented, designed to create a watershed in history as per the previous post.
I know all about the differences that people of conscience, concerned citizens as much as Roger, have with him. I feel significant differences. No matter. For the main challenge for one and all is NOT to be found in the usual suspects, in the worn out realms that activists routinely attack, trying to ply their preferences, apply their energies for this or that particular change in the status quo.
NO. Rather, we must no longer fixate on replacing a white rook with a red rook, or be obsessed with taking out a black bishop for the purpose of putting a green piece on board. No, no, no. Our focus must be on taking the toxic game board, that uneven playing field, and legally and nonviolently upending the game in which we are being played, turning the table over — turning the tables, as it were, on the powers that be — so that one and all can see what they cannot see at present.
My present to Roger, which I will offer up in person… in confidence (in more than one sense), is something that will gladden his heart, bring ear to ear smiles to anyone who has been overly affected by apathy, resignation, cynicism, the seemingly impenetrable ignorance of others, habit and atomization. Spread authentic hope to all those fighting the good fight in their tiny, ever-tightening corners.
His father would have been proud of him? I can do one better for Roger.
If we can move in solidarity along some lines — whether or not we embrace my particular proposal for action following a fresh paradigm — his father, bless him, will actually embrace him; he will feel what resonates in this suddenly so sad universe for all living and so-called dead.
The promise. The obligation met. The alignment of heartbeats.
As per Henry Miller:
“I know what the cure is: it is to give up, to relinquish, to surrender, so that our little hearts may beat in unison with the great heart of the world.”
[The "giving up" not precluding positioning the Palestinians plight from an angle that is preferable.]
And as per Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Renascence. [See a little bit of what I'm talking about here by checking out the excerpt at http://oxtogrind.org/archive/1397; it doesn't contain the whole enchilada by any means, but it should stir up some creative, intriguing juices.]
Seems to me that all my blah blah and whatever “differences” might exist between me and Roger, you and Roger, well… that’s got to be considered of peripheral concern for the moment.
For the moment, I can only be concerned with securing significant reins of power for the likes of Roger Waters — whether or not Roger is literally at the helm* — so that people with hearts, heads and souls in a healthy place are calling the shots in lieu of disingenuous career politicians.
*Could be any number of people with any number of sweet memories of their parents… as long as they’re young at heart (http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=The+Holly+Penfield+band&FORM=VIRE 3#view=detail&mid=984FF2FA81E813C9A5D5984FF2FA81E813C9A5D5).
If I succeed in merely securing the ear of Waters for a moment… I’m sure my Papi will be proud of me. For he knows what that might lead to, he knows it would at least give PEACE a chance. [Pause.] He’s very much alive in me in spite of his supposed passing.
