BLACK NEIGHBORS TO ATTACK

Black Neighbors to Attack
by Richard Oxman

-Strong brown hands have grabbed hold of the U.S. flag. They are pulling it away from those who have monopolized it, from bullies who have abused the nation’s symbols for their violent and illegitimate ends.-
– Highly debatable point raised by Van Jones (a Black) in -On Being Black at a Latino March.-

You can attack white neighbors too, if you can get to them. Ditto for people of other colors, of course.

But Afro-Americans-they're a good group to start with here, for what I think are obvious reasons; reasons that I refuse to delineate. You can have the fun of guessing why.

Top Ten:

1. Baseball fans who are not proactive respecting the sweatshop conditions that produce sports paraphernalia in Haiti, Honduras, El Salvador, Bangladesh, Indonesia and China.

2. Bearers of diamonds, cell phones, and/or gold, oblivious to the facts surrounding blood diamonds, coltan, etc.

3. Renters of videos which depict minorities in stereotypical lights. Such moviegoers too.

4. Supporters of politicians such as Barack Obama.

5. Contributors to organizations which only tolerate legal forms of protest.

6. Members of the U.S. military.

7. People who believe New Orleans is NOT uninhabitable.

8. Parents of public school children who do not foul mouth textbook history and other aspects of U.S. education-severely.

9. Those abusing brothers and/or sisters in any form on the street-with anything from jokes to muggings to drugs.

10. Those rising in the ranks of top corporations.

I trust you'll appreciate what I've laid out above; it took a full five minutes to delineate.

Okay, you don't have to -attack- the people, you can simply confront them in some way.

Footnote:
(1) -I am glad. Because only a mass movement with broad shoulders — and rough hands — will have the power to win the coming tug-of-war for the heart and soul of this country. The Latino community has birthed just such a movement. If history is any guide, as Latinos and other immigrant communities raise core questions about their children’s access to education, health care, jobs and safety, every American community will benefit hugely from their efforts. Including my own.- — Equally debatable set of points used as a conclusion by Van Jones in
