Murder Urgency Invitation Laughter
“If you think that your dogs, children, gardens, vacations, health and/or income are not vulnerable to what’s coming down, you’re not a candidate for The Party’s Over Party. Furthermore, only those with a double dose of imagination, senses of mortality, humor and beyond (with infuriation) need apply. Preference will be given to those who did not vote in the last election.” — from a recruitment poster for The Party’s Over Party
“All I ask is that, in the midst of a murderous world, we agree to reflect on murder and to make a choice….Over the expanse of five continents throughout the coming years an endless struggle is going to be pursued between violence and friendly persuasion, a struggle in which granted, the former has a thousand times the chances of success than has the latter. But I have always held that, if he who bases his hopes on human nature is a fool, he who gives up in the face of circumstances is a coward. And henceforth, the only honorable course will be to stake everything on a formidable gamble: that words are more powerful than munitions.” — Albert Camus (from “Neither Victims Nor Executioners”) Italics mine.
The “murder” is not just that which is taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan. Think ecocide, otherwise, and elsewhere.
I will not insult your intelligence, nor will I try to push your envelope if you’re not there yet by trying to delineate what I mean above.
This is quite simply a call for those who understand the need for a new paradigm in protest and who feel a great sense of urgency (already) about the issues of our day.
If you live in California please contact Richard Oxman at… rmoxman AT yahoo.com ASAP. Meetings are planned in private, in confidence…for obvious reasons.
Blessings in solidarity,
P.S. Without resorting to violence, we do have something other than words to put on the table for your kind consideration. But we beg you to sit down with us sooner rather than later. Belly-up laughter encouraged.
