We have an emergency on our hands. We must move on it… YESTERDAY. In a new way.

Trust is important, and usually it takes time to build trust. BUT… perhaps we can move expeditiously by my providing an introduction of sorts to our eight-year-old son, Marcel. Be sure to watch it through to the end where Marcel has quite a session with four Africans. Hopefully, that’ll get my foot in the door with you.

It was filmed two years ago in preparation for the arrival of Wole Soyinka, Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate in Literature, at Stanford University. That same year, Marcel and I were asked to leave Stanford’s campus when we spoke out against Condoleezza Rice and Bechtel’s privatization of water in Bolivia. That said, I trust you’ll let me get the other foot in now.

White people can join this party, of course, for white is a color too, yes?

But let’s call a spade a spade, shall we? It’s time for RACISM to be acknowledged fill tilt.

And immediate, meaningful action taken… without RACISM being on the periphery.

In short, while you are involved in all of the important work that you’re doing at present — personal and/or activity with a socially-conscious dimension — we urge you to come on board immediately with THE PEOPLE OF COLOR PARTY… which will win OUR PERSON and team* (sans gangster politicians) the Executive seat in Sacramento in 2010. Is there anything else on the table — with worthwhile stakes — to move us all along in necessary solidarity?

The Governor of California can do many things UNILATERALLY. Including (but by no means limited to) placing a moratorium on the Death Penalty, releasing huge numbers of prisoners with Executive Clemency, and having an historic impact on your income, health care (not mere minimal coverage, toxic band-aids), environment and self-education in essential solidarity+ (See http://www.disappearingvoices.com/ for starters). ALL ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY… as police brutality is put to bed.

HOW we can get OUR GOVERNOR in (and keep her/him protected) is something that I should talk to you about in person.
