Echolocation

Echolocation
by The Ox http://oxtogrind.org/archive/378

The insane cruelty shown at http://www.mercyforanimals.org/hatchery/ is a true horror to behold, and it echoes U.S. treatment of untold numbers in the Middle East and elsewhere. Predator drones decimating civilians in Afghanistan provide one example of what I mean by echoes.

This morning I put together a business card which I probably will never hand out (at UCSC, as per my fantasy). See the boldface directly below.

Consider dropping out of your institution of so-called higher education to make a worthwhile difference in this world. In time. On sliding scale terms.

As per http://oxtogrind.org/archive/378, you can also study Dramatic Art, Comparative Literature, Cinema History, Film Appreciation, ESL, MusicMusicMusic, Design, Gardening, Cooking, Caring for Creatures and other subjects with me and my family… and colleagues
.

I do recommend that one and all glance at http://oxtogrind.org/archive/378, and contact me immediately. For it is not just the students at UCSC who would benefit from contact with me. It’s all the citizens of the United States and others who can hear Australian journalist John Pilger (with his Martha Gellhorn definition of “Anti-American”) at http://www.zmag.org/zvideo/3227 and understand my buddy Black at BBC* http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8233632.stm …touching upon another touchy subject… not — to put it mildly — adequately addressed in institutions of so-called higher education.

*BBC, by the way, is itself — in many ways — an unacknowledged horror.

Echolocation is the discovery of an object’s position by measuring the time taken for an echo to return from it.

Yes, in solidarity.

P.S. For those too hypnotized to see the horror of Obama and/or the U.S., I recommend http://www.zmag.org/zmag/viewArticle/21609 for starters. And I ask why no U.S. president, including Obama, has chosen to release Leonard Peltier from prison, considering the clearly documented horror of COINTELPRO http://www.freepeltiernow.org/COINTELPRO.htm. Such abominations are ongoing http://www.democracynow.org/2009/9/2/iraqi_journalist_detained_for_a_y ear …with increased arrogance, aided and abetted by historical amnesia. And, in fact, it’s no mystery at all why our Sitting War Criminal — refusing to prosecute our most recent war criminals — would act thus and so.
