For Those Who Were With Noam Chomsky in California

For Those Who Were With Noam Chomsky in California
by Richard Martin Oxman

SPECIAL NOTE ADDED OCTOBER 14TH FOR DAHR JAMAIL: YOU CAN GLANCE AT THIS, DAHR, BUT I’D LIKE YOU TO SPEND MORE HEARTBEATS WITH http://oxtogrind.org/archive/408, http://oxtogrind.org/archive/411 (”4AM With Dahr and Dahr’s Audience”), and http://oxtogrind.org/archive/409 ["Dahr Bat(talli)on Dream"]. Thanks for your kind consideration, ROx. AND FOR THOSE WHO WERE AT THE 7:00PM EVENT WHO RECEIVED CARDS FROM ME: Please note that whereas Dahr’s work and all the resistance work should be applauded and continued, there is an URGENT need to do something additional on a very broad scale simultaneously… because the powers that be can (overnight) eliminate ALL significant resistance talk/action regardless of whatever momentum is building. I am not attached to TOSCA (http://oxtogrind.org/archive/364), but all groups devoted to resistance and all “progressive” organizations need to be moving in solidarity on some single effort …which follows an unprecedented paradigm for change. For one, TOSCA is about putting ourselves into a position so that (about 15 months from now) we will not be so easily marginalized or removed. And there are many reasons — in addition to GI Rights and Soldier/Citizen Sanity to be moving in solidarity together — immediately. From a singular angle. See http://oxtogrind.org/archive/336 for a short list of TOSCA imprimaturs, which includes Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Bill Blum and many others worldwide. If you’re short on time, perhaps “4AM With Dahr and Dahr’s Audience” http://oxtogrind.org/archive/411 is the best bet for starters.

“To refuse to be instruments of social control in an essentially undemocratic society, to begin to play some small part in the creation of a real democracy: these are worthy jobs… for all of us. Let’s resist the characteristically American trick of passing off fundamental criticism by pointing to a few reforms.” – Howard Zinn

Special Note: Please glance at http://oxtogrind.org/archive/405, “Knowledge as Power: The Governor of California as Teacher” (especially if you are associated with academia).

We intend to “take over” the State of California (TOSCA) in 2010. We’d do it earlier if we could because there’s a great sense of urgency concerning many issues*. We will follow an entirely new paradigm within the electoral arena to accomplish our goals legally and nonviolently …with the full realization that — as Noam Chomsky reminds us — “politics is the shadow cast over society by big business.”

*If you attended Chomsky’s Palo Alto talk, it’s likely that we’ll be addressing the issues which most concern you. In unprecedented fashion.

I invite those who are aligned with Noam Chomsky’s plea for institutional changes in society to join hands in solidarity with Howard Zinn et al. respecting TOSCA. A short list of worldwide supporters is at http://oxtogrind.org/archive/336. In brief, we want to have twelve unaffiliated, non-politician citizens serving together as Governor of California (on an equal basis) — for the first time in history — in lieu of having a single self-serving careerist at the helm. See http://oxtogrind/archive/364 and/or http://dissidentvoice.org/2009/07/taking-over-post-arnold-california/ for more details.

This is politics without politicians. This is all about helping the public to self-educate in an unprecedented way. And one of the great things we intend to do is to bring all this about on a ZERO budget. Achieving our ends that way will — alone — garner international attention. That’ll be necessary because, as we know, anything we do in California must connect in a deep way worldwide… in order to save this world.

Let’s create a watershed in history by transforming the electoral arena in California.

If you glance at my background at http://oxtogrind.org/archive/378, you’ll find a link for a short video taken in 2006 on the Stanford University campus; my written intro to that footage should be particularly instructive for those who attend Stanford. I also recommend that you take a look at my “On Obligation to Ida B. Wells et al.” (http://oxtogrind.org/archive/402) if you want to know a bit more about my roots and passion. Howard Zinn, God bless him, said it contained a “fantastic message.”

Blessings in solidarity,
Richard

P.S. For what it’s worth, I have hundreds of special books, DVDs, etc. to donate to appropriate people and/or organizations. Materials which in many cases are not easily accessible. In disciplines ‘cross the board. By the way, it’s interesting that areas of study are referred to as disciplines, yes?
