NOT A SYLLOGISM
Not a Syllogism
by Oxz (Richard Martin Oxman)
Dedicated to the potential of Barbara Ehrenreich et al.
It is one thing for me to attempt contact with Angela Davis or Mike Davis, and quite another for Barbara Ehrenreich to do so.
Furthermore, it would be one thing for Angela Davis and Mike Davis to form a (California gubernatorial) Davis Ticket… with ten other citizens (as per http://oxtogrind.org/archive/364 TOSCA) boasting Barbara Ehrenreich’s imprimatur, and quite another for such a Davis Ticket to be backed by Barbara AND every single endorser cited at http://www.gazafreedommarch.org/article.php?id=5032 (and all their many friends!).
Therefore, we should not look at TOSCA as deceptively attractive. Simplistic.
For it is singularly special, not a specious plan. Worthy of movement in solidarity.
[Pause.]
For those who are locked into logic and being overly literal, I should conclude by underscoring that I am not attached to either Angela Davis or Mike Davis.
I am very attached to the idea of introducing the DIONYSIAC into the electoral arena, however.
We need Pynchon to lead the way, not Pythagoras. Logic is necessary, but not if it leads to an anal-retentive insistence upon maintaining the status quo. [Pause.] Go, go, go… and help me to show what’s possible in this beautiful, unreasonable world.

P.S. Yes, of course, syllogisms do not necessarily embed fallacies. And there’s certainly nothing wrong with the scientific method… unless it adds to our infinite pile of documentation in a way that precludes taking meaningful action. Or keeps us from doing what’s right about matters which cannot be proven. Or… well, you know, there’s lots to cite in this realm.
